The UAZ 452 also known as the Bukhanka is the signature product created by Russian auto manufacture UAZ. There are many variants of the UAZ such as the 3741, 3962, 3909, etc. However the main difference between each variant is the placement of windows and body panels, the mechanical parts of all of these vehicles are more or less the same. These vehicles contain a ZMZ 2.4 liter 75 HP inline 4 engine and an unsynchronized 4 speed manual transmission. An upgraded 2.9 liter fuel injected engine and synchronized 5 speed transmission can also be installed if desired that increases both reliability and horsepower. While fairly archaic, the Bukhanka has many advantages that are desperately needed in the current American car market. These include:

1. Cheap price – These are full sized 4×4 vans that even after importation are still a fraction of the cost of the competition.
2. Simplicity- A Bukhanka is extremely easy to work on and in most cases can be fixed with primitive hand tools and basic mechanical knowledge.
3. Coolness factor – These vans are a moving piece of history and even brand new still display an iconic look that no other vehicle on the road can compare with!
4. Accessibility – Yes, with the current situation between Russia and Ukraine accessibility to information and parts is lower than usual. However these vehicles have been made since the 60s with only minor changes. As a result the ability to obtain parts and information is still somewhat widely accessible especially compared to other Soviet made vehicles.
